my body, my choice

hey hey!

a big trend going on now a days is the, "my body my choice," kind of attitude. So many famous people are promoting this mindset and it seems easy and natural to follow along with the trend.
They tell us,
"wear whatever you want"
"do whatever you feel"
"go crazy and just do you."

But this sort of mindset is not from God. Our emotions and feelings change, but God does not. God values us so much higher than what the media is saying. You don't need a "my body my choice" attitude because you are so much more than that.

Your body is God's temple, it is a beautiful and sacred thing which God wants to use for His Kingdom. He won't use you if you don't want Him to, and our bodies can't both be temples and things we goof around with, we have to choose.

do you want the "my body my choice," life style, or do you want the, "my body, God's temple," lifestyle. Because is so much more than just a mindset, it is a life style.

The choices you make will be based off how you view yourself and God. If you believe it's your body and you can do whatever you want, it's easier to do what your feeling in the moment & potentially do something you will regret for the rest of your life. This is because the "my body my choice" lifestyle is built on an unsteady foundation. It is a foundation built on your feelings, and can i tell you, feelings change!!

but if you know that your body is so much more than something you can play around with, you will be building your life on a firm foundation, because God does not change. Friends... your body is a temple!!! Your body is sacred! your body is holy!!

Romans 12:1-2 says this, "Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a LIVING sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God, this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is, His good, pleasing, and perfect will."

this verse has so so much in it and it is so so powerful. This is a verse to hide in your heart and live by each and every day.

The beginning of the verse says to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice. God does not want you to sacrifice yourself, He wants you to be a living one. This means that each and every day when you wake up, and go to school or sports or whatever you do, you are doing it for God. If God tells you to go talk to that kid, you go talk to him. It means you live for God. :)

The verse continues to say that this is pleasing to God, this is true and proper worship. friends, we have a chance to please God!! I don't know about you, but i most surly want to live for God and please Him with my life. the verse says that this is true and proper worship. Its so beautiful to worship God during church choir or to read your bible and thank God, and those things are so important and vital for Christians, but God says that to have true and proper worship, we have to live for Him.  It takes full surrender to worship God.

The verse keeps going & says  that we can't be conformed to this worlds patterns, but we need to be transformed. This means that we have to loose the "my body my choice" life style and pick up Christ's beautiful story. We have a choice, but we can't both live for the world and live for God.

Matthew 6:24 tells us that we cannot serve two masters. But let me remind you that living for God is 100% more satisfying than living with the world.

It was Willie Robertson who said, "you can live with the world and feel pleasure, or you can live for God and feel satisfaction and joy."

Pleasure comes and goes, but God's joy stays forever. God always satisfies us, and that is something people can't do.

I will wrap this up with 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, "Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, Who is in you, Whom you have received from God? You are not your own. You were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your bodies."

I love this verse because God clearly tells us that it is not us, but Him in us. You are God's temple, holy and sacred, beautiful and wonderful, and because you are worth so much more than what the world says. You are priceless. <3

lots of love,
Jaycie
